AdSense Retire their Referrals Program and Launch the Google Affiliate Network

Today AdSense announced that they are drawing their ‘Referrals’ program to a close and are relaunching a new Google affiliate network. In actual effect the new affiliate network is not ‘new’ - but a rebranded version of DoubleClick’s Performics Affiliate Network which they acquired in March.

This is news that many of us expected - particularly since Google bought DoubleClick earlier in the year. It’s also not surprising as most publishers that I know have had very little success with the Referrals program within AdSense. In fact I’m one of the only people that I know who made much from it - and that almost dried up when they changed the referrals program for AdSense.

If You Promote AdSense Referrals Products…

If you’re a blogger promoting some kind of AdSense Referrals product it’s time to remove the ad and replace it with something else. You can still run the ads but they’ll stop working in the last week of August.

It is not clear whether the referrals that you’ve made that have not converted will also become void in the last week of August also. This is something I’d like to see AdSense clarify as some of their programs have quite long lead times for those that you refer to ‘convert’ and therefore to earn you money.

Google Affiliate Network

The new Google Affiliate Network does not something that everyone will be able to use. They say that they are targeting sites with largely US based traffic - I’m yet to see any clarification on how they’ll be filtering publishers, whether there is a traffic based minimum to get in etc. Time will tell as publishers start applying. At present I know that Performics has accepted me as a publisher (I was previously using it) so it’s not too hard to get into I hope!

No More Google Affiliate Products

Those of you promoting ‘Google Products’ through the current ‘Referrals’ system should know that there are no plans at this point to have these products available to promote through the new affiliate network. They may come later but my sources at Google say that these programs are coming to an end and there will be no immediate way to make money by sending them new AdSense publishers, AdWords advertisers etc.

Simple Tips to boost your Search Engine Ranking

Making a website search engine ready is important for top rankings. Getting the job done is fairly simple if the right advice is followed. Here are 4 simple tips you can implement:

Tip #1 Headlines Are An Important Factor

We can expect our webpage to include several headlines. The most important headline is the one that appears at the top of our web page. This is referred to as H1 tag. It is important to include our main keywords or key phrase in this headline. More often than not if you do a search for a particular keyword, you will see it include in this main heading in most if not all the top ranking sites.

A second or third headline, H2 and H3, may also be included. Just make sure to have the right keyword phrase included in each of these, as well.

Tip #2 Inserting Keywords Into the main body of the Text

The actual impact of this technique is in my view not as important as it used to be and I would not spend too much time worrying about this. Indeed if you try to stuff your text with keywords this may be perceived as spamming, and is to be avoided. I would suggest a good rule of thumb is to include the keyword at the start, right near the end and once in the middle if it is a large passage

Please bear in mind that your page will be ranked based on the content of your text. Although using fancy graphics can improve the overall look and feel of your website use they sparingly as Search engines can not read keywords in JavaScript, and many types of graphics

Tip #3 Page Title Keywords

You should always include your main Keywords in the title of the page. This is the information that appears at the top of your browser window.

This is what appears in the browser window at the very top of the page above the menu. Most search engines display the Title as the top line in their listing. They have a propensity to list pages that have the searched keyword contained in the Title. Considering this, it is one of the most important parts of a page to include your primary keyword.

Tip #4 Using Alt tags for your images.

Alt tags need to be included in image descriptions. This results in more attention for your keyword and helps the surfer to understand what the image is about should it fail to load.

Once again we need to avoid the danger of spamming here, so cramming a load of keywords into your alt tags is not a good idea

Every web page provides a great opportunity to use keywords to its advantage. Taking a look at the web pages source code and tweaking it can pay off with rankings and traffic, so it's well worth the effort.

$500 in 5 Days for One Hour Work

I have not used Google Adwords from a long time to earn money from PPC based affiliate marketing. But recently I decided to give it a try and see how it works for me. I gave it a try and I made $500+ profit in 5 days for that one hour of my work. This post is about, how did I do it. I am sure you can do that as well very easily.

Here is how I went about doing it. This is step-by-step information on what I did exactly:

First of all I registered a new account with Adwords and got $50 in free credit. Here is my older post about how can you get that free credit (valid only for new accounts).
Next task was to find a good program which is high in demand, convert quite well, and does not have much competition. I did a lot of research to find out that online degrees is a niche which is high in demand, but has quite strong competition in PPC terms. And then, I found this program called Instant Degrees which is also in online degrees league but it is totally different concept and does not have ANY competition. So I decided to give it a try.
I checked their affiliate program which pays 30% of the sale amount (means commission of: min: $36 and max: $63). That looked quite good to me. So I registered with their affiliate program (which is there on their homepage). Hired a sales writer and created a great landing page website.
Then I setup my Adwords campaign with 3 AdGroups and around 10 different ads to see which type of ads works best. My daily budget was set to $100. Then my campaigns went live.
For the first day, I got only two signup with a commission of $93 in total on my spend of $98. So that was a loss of around $5
After seeing the results for 24 hours, I tweaked my campaigns and removed some non-performing ads and keywords. And for the day I got 5 signups and a commission of $199.5. Wow, that was good. I was happy, I knew I have hit the jackpot. So, I tweaked my campaigns little bit more and increased my budget.
So overall in 5 days, I had spent around $800 and received commission of around $1600+ with Instant Degrees. After reducing the one time cost of the domain/hosting and sales letter on landing page, and also, after adding $50 free credit I got, it is clear profit of $500 in 5 days.
Overall, I spent one hour on the first day and around 20 minutes for next 2 days to optimize my campaigns. Thats it. Now its on auto-pilot. I am expecting to make $100 to $150 per day with it. Lets see how it goes, I will update the post later as well to report my earnings on it.
I used to same technique at Yahoo Search Marketing as well. There also I earned some money, which is not included in this $500. You can also get $100 free with yahoo search marketing. I have a post here about getting $100 free with them.

So, is it that easy to earn? Well, may be yes, may be no. There are few things you need to remember.

First of all, you need to research quite aggressively to find the right niche with high demand and less competition on Adwords. Find the right affiliate to advertise. I used instant degrees and you can use them as well.

Put some time on keyword research and find some good long tail keywords to bid on. Those long tail keywords converts quite well.

Create a very good landing page. This is the most important and difficult task to be done. So hire a very good sale copyrighter for this task. When I was creating the page for “Instant Degrees”, I had some different kind of challenges. This program looks too good to be true. The first impression the person gets is how in this world you can get a degree without studying. So I had following tasks on my landing page to be performed:

Explain the visitor what it is about and how exactly it works.
Convince the visitor that this is actually legitimate, as it is a career matter.
Provide some proof and also some good testimonials.

I hired a guy and he did quite good job for me. So remember, to be successful in this program, you need to create a very good landing page, research some good long tail keywords and thats it.

Google has retired their Adsense referral program. Here is the email they sent:

Referrals program during the last week of August. We appreciate
your patience during this transition and here are some alternative
options to consider:

* Google Affiliate Network: As part of the integration of
DoubleClick, the DoubleClick Performics Affiliate Network will now
operate as the Google Affiliate Network for advertisers targeting
users located in the United States. Similar to the AdSense
Referrals program, the Google Affiliate Network enables publishers
to apply for advertiser programs and get paid based on
advertiser-defined actions instead of clicks or impressions. For
further details, please visit: www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork.

* AdSense for content ads: If you have less than three AdSense
for content ad units on a page, you may wish to replace the
referral ad units with standard AFC ad units.

If you currently use referral ads, either to promote Google
products or offerings from AdWords advertisers, AdSense Referrals
code will no longer display ads beginning the last week of August.
We encourage you to take the following steps before the product is
retired:

* Remove the referral code from your site(s): Please take a
moment to remove all referral code from your sites before the last

Scour is now paying people to search the web. Search results are fetched from Google, Yahoo and MSN. I tried the Search Engines with many different searches and it returned the results what other search engine returns.

Every comment on search - 3 points

So does this Scour actually pay? To be frank, I don’t know. I joined them recently. But the site looks professional. I will surely try them. There is no harm in trying. I think you should also give them a try. There is a cashout option in the control panel. I will try cashing after I make total of 6500 points. Then I will write a detailed review on the site. So, go try them.
